Paul McCartney

June 18, 1941

Paul McCartney was born and raised in Liverpool, England. His parents bought him a guitar and he was instantly interested by it, teaching himself to play. The guitar strings, however, had to be reversed, as Paul is left-handed (although he learned to write right-handed). Paul met John Lennon at a small concert that John's band, the Quarrymen, were giving. John was impressed by his playing and asked him to join. As teens, they wrote over a hundred songs together (all of which were accidentally thrown out), and Paul retaught John the guitar (he had been playing banjo chords up to this time). Their individual talents and personalities balanced perfectly. Together they became a most amazing combination for the ages.
